Modern content marketing is about more than just words.
I'm Sarah Close, an agile storyteller who blends strategy and technology to elevate the creative process and drive more effective results.
About Me
I was one of those kids who sat waaay too close to the TV.
I knew every channel’s prime time schedule by heart and watched shows religiously every evening. After the TV switched off, I read books by flashlight under the sheets till my eyes were blurry. I saw my first musical with my mom at age 10 and stayed active in theatre till I was almost 20. At Stanford, I was a Feminist Studies major who focused on creative writing, exploring the works of influential women like Marilyn French, Doris Lessing, Marge Piercy, and Margaret Atwood.
So I guess it’s no surprise I landed on a career in content marketing. I love stories.
I love how they’re crafted, how they shift, how they engage and shape audiences. I love that we can tell stories across many platforms to pull people in and change minds. I love unearthing the stories buried in cold data, compelling narratives quietly waiting to be seen. And I love how stories, now invigorated by the power of technology, can continuously evolve. Always new. Always exciting.
Professional Summary
I’m a dynamic storyteller with deep expertise in high-tech, high-growth businesses. My background spans corporate, agency, and contract environments, giving me unique insight into the challenges faced by marketing teams of all sizes. In addition to being a highly sought-after writer, my skills in design, web development, project management, and a wealth of technology tools (including GenAI), allow me to effectively bridge the gaps between ideation and execution. Bottom line? I get things done.
Recommendations
I worked with Sarah when she wrote for a publication that I edited, and I can say confidently that I would trust her with any project. She’s fast, full of good ideas, and great at writing. On top of that, she’s extremely smart. I think you could throw her into the middle of any situation or project and know that she’ll master it immediately. Good writing is rare enough, but I’ve known precious few people who are both good at writing and highly adaptable.
From strategy to execution, Sarah is the full content marketing package. She has been integral to our team’s strategy, bringing creativity and an eye for value to our planning. And Sarah has the skills to execute, with an extremely robust set of content production capabilities that consistently impress me and our customers. Her contributions were an invaluable part of helping us build a new brand and website from the ground up. Sarah is a content all-star and an absolute pleasure to work with – she would be an amazing addition to any team.
When I first joined TDA, I was told that Sarah was one of the best writers the agency had ever hired. This from one of the most critical editors/principals I have ever worked with. By then, Sarah was freelancing and I had the opportunity to use her services for a couple of projects. And boy did she rock! So much so, that when I moved to ShoreTel and needed freelance support, she was at the top of my list.
Sarah is a highly professional writer with an uncommonly sharp talent for developing intelligent marketing solutions. Sarah’s abilities as focused and responsive project manager make her a pleasure to work with.
Sarah is one of the very best writers that I had the pleasure to work with during my 20+ year time at TDA. She is also a great strategist, who continually suggested very effective marketing tactics to our clients.
